The Beardsleys and the Beardsley Limner: Beyond Likeness

By 1784, the year after the American Revolution ended with the Treaty of Paris, Dr. Hezekiah Beardsley (1748– 1790) and his wife Elizabeth Davis Beardsley (1749–1790) moved from Hartford, Connecticut, to coastal New Haven, where Dr. Beardsley operated a drugstore in their home on Chapel Street, a few blocks from Yale College.
